Welcome to the Midwest Rainbow News! The Midwest Rainbow News is written (mostly) by LGBTQ+ Prisoners and edited, printed and distributed by very dedicated free world volunteers. Our "Inside" Chapter has recently entered into a partnership with Liberation Lit who has so graciously taken over printing and distribution. We maintain a P.O. Box and, as funds permit, we create an account for our prison readers through Securus/Jpay.
By maintaining both modes of communication we insure our readers can reach out to us at any time in order to request advocacy in emergency situations. We deliver timely legislative updates, news stories, educational advice and resource information relevant to the Missouri/Kansas LGBTQ+ Prison Population. We are 100% dependent on donations, grant funding or personal out of pocket funding.
Please take a look around, read some of our back issues. We do not charge prisoners for a subscription to the Midwest Rainbow News. This newsletter is sent out to over 130 incarcerated members of the LGBTQIA+ community in Missouri and Kansas prisons, and provides a lifeline to news, community, and resources.
If you’d like to sign a pen pal or loved one up for the newsletter, fill out this form!
If you’d like to donate to printing and mailing costs, donate to Liberation Lit and write “Midwest Rainbow News” in the donation comment!

July 2023
I hope everyone was able to enjoy this year's Pride month! We would love to print stories about how you and/or your friends celebrated, so send them in and we will publish what wecan. As most of you know this newsletter could not be possible without the dedicated work ofour free world volunteers and partners. Our readership has grown a lot these past years and Iam looking into ways we might be able to add more content. But it is important for you, our readers, to let us know what you want to read about.

June 2023
Here it is, June already! Happy Pride to all our boys and girls!! Throughout this month, I would love it if you sent in stories about how you celebrated Pride month, and we will try to get as many of your stories published as we can.
I know many of you have been hearing a lot about the legislation that was passed concerning our treatment. Let me shoot down any false rumors you may have heard. The bill the governor is expected to sign soon ONLY prohibits surgery for prisoners, which we already knew would require a court case for us to receive. So, in short: The new law does not affect our ability to get placed on hormones, nor will it affect those already receiving hormones. In next month’s issue I will give you a more detailed rundown on how it will or won't affect you when you are released.
